CBSE Class 12 Business Studies has an 80-mark paper and 20 internal marks. Most questions are theory or case-based, and marks depend heavily on using the right keywords in a clear structure.
This guide covers the Business Studies important questions by unit, how to handle case studies and how to structure answers.

Management chapters
Nature and significance of management, principles of management (Fayol and Taylor), business environment, planning, organising, staffing, directing and controlling. Fayol's principles, functions of management, types of plans, formal and informal organisation, and the steps in staffing and controlling are asked most years.
Marketing and finance
Financial management, financial markets, marketing and consumer protection. Know factors affecting capital structure, dividend decisions and working capital, the functions of SEBI, the marketing mix and consumer rights.
Case studies
Case questions describe a situation and ask you to identify a concept. Read the case twice, underline the lines that point to the concept, and quote them in your answer. Then name the concept and explain it briefly.

Keywords
Examiners look for NCERT terms. For example, write "unity of command" and "scalar chain", not a description in your own words. Keep a list of keywords per chapter and revise it before each paper.
Answer structure
- Heading: the concept or point name, underlined.
- Explanation: one or two lines per point.
- Example: where the question asks for it.
- Points match marks: a 4-mark question usually needs four clear points.
PYQs
Solve PYQs chapter-wise and compare your answers with the marking scheme. You will notice the same concepts tested through different cases.
Frequently asked questions
How long should answers be?
Match the marks. Use points and stop once each point is explained.
How do I identify the concept in a case study?
Look for the key line in the case and match it to the definition you learnt. Quote that line in your answer.
Is NCERT enough for Business Studies?
Yes, for content and keywords. Use PYQs and sample papers for case practice.
The short version
Learn NCERT keywords, write in headed points that match the marks, quote lines in case studies and practise PYQs against the marking scheme.
