CBSE Class 10 Science: a 30-day revision plan — Paper Predict Notes

Class 10 Science covers Physics, Chemistry and Biology in a single paper. That can feel like a lot to revise, but the chapters are manageable once they are spread across a clear plan. Thirty days is enough to revise every chapter, practise diagrams and previous year questions, and finish with full sample papers.

The theory paper is worth 80 marks, with 20 marks for internal assessment. This plan assumes you have studied each chapter at least once in school.

Check the latest CBSE syllabus and sample paper before you start, since chapters and question formats can change from year to year.

Outline of CBSE Class 10 Science: a 30-day revision plan
What this guide covers

How the plan is organised

The month is split into three parts.

  • Days 1 to 20: revise every chapter, one or two per day, with PYQs.
  • Days 21 to 25: revise diagrams, reactions and formulas across all chapters.
  • Days 26 to 30: full sample papers and final revision.

Each study day has about three to four hours of Science, leaving time for other subjects.

Days 1 to 20: chapter revision

Chemistry (Days 1 to 6)

  • Day 1: Chemical Reactions and Equations. Types of reactions and balancing equations.
  • Day 2: Acids, Bases and Salts. Indicators, pH scale and important salts.
  • Day 3: Acids, Bases and Salts PYQs, and revision of Day 1.
  • Day 4: Metals and Non-metals. Reactivity series, extraction and corrosion.
  • Day 5: Carbon and its Compounds. Bonding, homologous series and functional groups.
  • Day 6: Carbon and its Compounds. Chemical properties, ethanol and ethanoic acid, soaps and detergents.

Biology (Days 7 to 13)

  • Day 7: Life Processes. Nutrition and respiration.
  • Day 8: Life Processes. Transportation and excretion, with diagrams of the heart and the nephron.
  • Day 9: Control and Coordination. The nervous system, reflex arc and plant hormones.
  • Day 10: How do Organisms Reproduce? Modes of reproduction and the reproductive systems.
  • Day 11: Heredity. Mendel's experiments and sex determination.
  • Day 12: Our Environment. Food chains, ecosystems and ozone depletion.
  • Day 13: Biology PYQs and diagram practice.

Physics (Days 14 to 20)

  • Day 14: Light: Reflection and Refraction. Mirror formula and ray diagrams.
  • Day 15: Light: Reflection and Refraction. Lens formula, power of a lens and numericals.
  • Day 16: The Human Eye and the Colourful World. Defects of vision, dispersion and scattering.
  • Day 17: Electricity. Ohm's law, resistance, and series and parallel combinations.
  • Day 18: Electricity. Heating effect, power and numericals.
  • Day 19: Magnetic Effects of Electric Current. Field lines, the right-hand rule and the electric motor.
  • Day 20: Physics PYQs and numerical practice.

What to do in each chapter session

  1. Read your notes or NCERT for the chapter.
  2. Write a short summary of key facts, formulas or reactions.
  3. Practise the chapter's diagrams.
  4. Solve the previous year questions for the chapter.

Days 21 to 25: diagrams, reactions and formulas

  • Day 21: All Biology diagrams. Draw each from memory and check the labels.
  • Day 22: All Chemistry reactions and equations. Write and balance each one.
  • Day 23: All Physics formulas and ray diagrams.
  • Day 24: Case-based and assertion-reason practice across all chapters.
  • Day 25: Revise weak chapters identified so far.

Days 26 to 30: sample papers and final revision

  • Day 26: Full sample paper under timed conditions, then check it against the marking scheme.
  • Day 27: Revise the topics behind your mistakes.
  • Day 28: Second full sample paper.
  • Day 29: Revise the error list and all summaries.
  • Day 30: Light revision of diagrams and formulas. Rest early.

Tips for scoring well in Class 10 Science

  • Diagrams earn marks. Practise them until they are neat and correctly labelled.
  • Write balanced equations. Unbalanced equations can lose marks.
  • Show every step in numericals. Write the formula, substitute values, and include units.
  • Use keywords in answers. Examiners look for specific terms from NCERT.
  • Practise competency-based questions. CBSE includes case-based and application questions, so practise this format with sample papers.

Common mistakes

  • Spending too long on one subject and rushing the others.
  • Memorising answers without understanding them, which fails on application questions.
  • Skipping sample papers, which leads to poor time management in the exam.

Frequently asked questions

Is one month enough to revise Class 10 Science?

Yes, if you have studied the chapters once in school. A structured plan with daily revision and practice is enough to cover the full syllabus.

Which section is most scoring in Class 10 Science?

All three can be scoring. Chemistry and Biology reward clear, keyword-based answers, while Physics rewards practised numericals and diagrams.

How many sample papers should I solve?

At least three to five full sample papers, including the official CBSE sample paper, checked against the marking scheme.

The short version

Spend 20 days revising each chapter with diagrams and PYQs, 5 days on diagrams, reactions and formulas, and 5 days on full sample papers and final revision. Practise diagrams, show every step and use NCERT keywords in your answers.
