This guide lists the Class 10 Maths important questions chapter-wise and how to present your working. Check the latest CBSE syllabus and sample paper for your year.

Algebra
Real numbers, polynomials, pair of linear equations, quadratic equations and arithmetic progressions. Word problems on linear and quadratic equations, the nth term and sum of an AP, and the relationship between zeros and coefficients of a polynomial are asked most years.
Geometry
Triangles and circles. Learn the proofs of the Basic Proportionality Theorem and the theorems on tangents to a circle. Similarity questions are common.
Coordinate geometry
Distance formula and section formula. These are short questions with quick marks.
Trigonometry
Introduction to trigonometry and its applications. Practise proving identities and heights and distances problems with a neat figure.

Mensuration
Areas related to circles and surface areas and volumes. Combination-of-solids questions are common. Write the formula before substituting.

Mean, median and mode of grouped data, and simple probability with coins, dice and cards. These are scoring if you set up the table neatly.
Presentation
- Write every step; method earns marks.
- Draw figures for geometry and heights and distances.
- Box final answers with units.
- In case-based questions, answer each part separately.
